Cadillac: Plug-In Hybrids over Electrical Vehicles

Cadillac is planning plug-in hybrid variants of almost all of its cars.

This will be done in order to ensure that the producer falls in line with the latest strict emissions regulations. They are especially strict in China.

The company’s boss is sure that plug-in-hybrids are the smartest move for now. Going fully electric is not as smart, according to him. Nysschen considers that those vehicles provide the advantage of a full EV, but they do not fall under the constraints of a still-green charging infrastructure.

BMW and Mercedes-Benz are not able to meet the requirements without going fully electric while Cadillac can do this. The American high-end brand is under the GM fuel economy umbrella.

EVs are not planned to come out immediately. With the lapse of time the automaker will try to come up with a completely electric offering.

The ELR became the first plug-in hybrid that was marketed by the manufacturer. Meanwhile, the CT6 became the first innovated offering from Cadillac with a plug-in powerplant. The model rides with a 2.0-litre turbocharged V4 engine joined to an 18.4 kWh lithium battery and 2 electric motors. Such equipment will help the CT6 to ride almost 30 miles on electricity.
