Next Years CVT Changes of Nissan

Faux shift will be a novelty implemented by Nissan for its row of 2015 cars.

D-Step Shift is the name of this innovation. According to promotional information, the Japanese brand plans to release a full range of next year’s vehicles using this logic. For now one can imagine the way CVT looks like seeing the examples of a year-old Altima and new Rogue. Six models in total will adopt D-Step Shift.

The whole ado evolves around the concept that to CVT is perceived like a false gear-change in automatic gearbox by a driver. Anyway, Nissan is very likely to spend a lot of time explaining the benefits of the technology both to critics and customers, being the first automaker implementing the novelty.

Physical nature behind the phenomenon boils down to software-initiated gear jump resulting in slight driving force pause felt like automatic transmission in work.
