Cadillac CT6 Plug-In will be imported From China

GM wants to import one more car from China to market it in America. It will be the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid.

The model will be constructed in China only. Regular petrol-driven versions of it will be manufactured in the U.S. This is already the 2nd car to come from China for General Motors. The Buick Envision was the first one. This fact shows that the automaker is confident in the Chinese factories and wants to market vehicles developed there in America.

Vehicle sales in China are very high, but importation taxes are high too. Therefore, it is easier for the producer to built the models locally and simply export them. According to its expectations, the CT6 Plug-In will overcome American sales in China.

The company’s president says that it will be the biggest market for EVs. The next-gen rules of fuel economy are going to be rather severe in China.

The vehicle under consideration will be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged V4 unit joined to a rear-wheel drive variable transmission. Together with dual electric motors, it outputs 335 hp and torque of 432 lb-ft. Cadillac assures that the electric system will help the car to acquire “spirited acceleration”. Besides, 37 miles of fully electric driving will be allowed.

The CT6 plug-in hybrid will reach America in the beginning of 2016 after marketing of the regular non-hybrid CT6.
