General Motors invests $5.4B into US Manufacturing

General Motors has stated about a significant investment into few American manufacturing facilities.

The American producer is going to invest $5.4 billion till 2018. This investment is able to create nearly 650 new jobs. GM has shared details only about $783.5 million of their investment up till now. The total sum of the investment will be divided between three different facilities in Michigan. If to break the investment and count how much will be spent each day, it appears that it will be $5 million per day. It makes $150 million per months up till 2018.

The automaker’s crossovers are built at the Lansing Delta Township assembly factory. This plant will receive a $520 million investment for upgraded equipment and tools. GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse crossovers of the next generation are scheduled to arrive in two years.

$139 million will be sent to a new body shop and stamping facility upgrades for the pre-production operations in Warren (Michigan). As to the Pontiac Metal Centre, it will get $124 million. Counting these numbers, we came to the conclusion that $4.6 billion remain untouched. The automaker will reveal what it is going to do with them in the coming months.

General Motors says that the new investment will allow stamping factory to manufacture parts of high quality in shorter timespan.
