2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Receives MPG Downgrade

A little digit will be displayed on Monroney stickers for the Hyundai Genesis sedan: its official fuel efficiency rating.

The downgrade is true for both V6 and V8 vehicles. The powertrain hasn’t been significantly changed as well, but the 3.8-liter V6 is now estimated for 26 on the highway, which is a one less than before while the city rating stayed the same at 17 mpg. Bigger losses come with the 5.0-liter V8 version, which drops one mile per gallon in the city and two on the highway for a 17/26 rating.

Other small changes for the 2014 model year feature enhanced telematics system, regular 18-inch alloy wheels for V6 models, upgraded steering calibration said to improve the steering wheels. V8 vehicles now come with a heated steering wheel as regular equipment.

Hyundai has a fresh variant of the Genesis sedan arriving for the 2015 model year and is going to debut during the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next January. Motor options are supposed to stay the same, meaning there will still be a 332-hp V6 as well as a 428-hp 5.0-liter V8.
