Lexus CT200 Turbo is Being Considered

The entry-level Lexus CT will probably receive new performance-oriented versions as the Japanese company is aiming at performance enthusiasts.

Nowadays available only in hybrid version, Lexus hopes that its CT model could not only attract a different demographic, but would be profitable in becoming a luxury sports vehicle. The 2nd-gen CT will arrive in 2016 and with it could be non-hybrid versions built to compete with the BMW 1 and 2 Series, and the Mercedes CLA.

At the approaching Tokyo Motor Show, Lexus will uncover a new 2.0-liter turbocharged motor in the LF-NX concept, and that powerplant is a likely candidate to find its place under the hood of the CT. So could a CT200t be real? Well, it seems like that if you read between the lines of what Lexus boss Mark Templin has to say: “But we missed a segment of the market for customers who want fast vehicles; because a lot of clients liked the looks and liked the way it drove so they wanted something faster. So yeah, in the future, I believe we can account for that.”

At the approaching Guangzhou Motor Show in China Lexus will uncover its refreshed 2014 CT200h model with a new look and updates to be reported.
