More Power and Upgraded Mechanics in the Lotus Evora 400

After its reveal last month, the Lotus Evora 400 was officially presented this week at the 85th Motor Show in Geneva.

Lotus wants to spice up the model with a variant having more power. It is going to have a 3.5-litre five-cylinder supercharged engine generating 400 hp (or 298 kW) and torque of 410 Nm (or 302 lb-ft). The producer tells it is the most powerful production offering ever. Nevertheless, the company produced the Evora GTE Limited Edition with 438 hp (or 327 kW) four years ago. They probably did not consider this variant since its production was limited.

The Evora 400 has a 0-62 (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.2 seconds. As to the top speed, it is 186 mph (or 300 km/h). The power is sent to the wheels with the help of either an updated six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gear box. The producer has changed the aluminium chassis a little bit. Thankfully to this the model has lost 48 lb-ft (or 22 kg).

There are larger brakes, retuned suspension and a limited slip differential (if equipped with the manual transmission) among other upgrades. As to the inside, the vehicle receives new seats, new centre console, revised instrument cluster, forged magnesium helm and materials of higher quality.

At first the model will be launched for sale in Europe since August of 2015. North America will see it later on as a 2016MY.
