Spy Photos of Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid Caught During Testing

Mini is developing an innovated plug-in hybrid variant of the Countryman.

Paparazzi spied a Countryman prototype. The model is plug-in and it will use a tiny turbocharged V3 powertrain. It will send power to the front wheels. The electric engine will take care of the back wheels.

The motor is powered by petrol. It is expected to give an approximate output of 136 hp. The motor will mix with power from the plug-in hybrid package to produce a total of nearly 240 hp. The plug-in hybrid package will also show up the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer, which is the Countryman’s platform mate.

Paparazzi managed to take a picture of the forthcoming non-hybrid Countryman variant from the inside. The model will be completed in 2017.
