Nissan Altima Beats Toyota Camry and Conquers the Crown in March Sales

The Nissan Altima, a vehicle for a long time not considered to be a competitor for the top place, announced the sales to begin in March among middle-size sedans, removing the Toyota Camry.

Toyota sold 37,663 Camrys in March, while Nissan outnumbered them by 100 for a total of 37,763 Altimas sold. Third place took Honda Accord, the forth is Ford Fusion and fifth is for Chevy Malibu.

Every time sales narrate a different story, with the Camry still leaving behind the rest of the pack by a great margin. While the Camry still seems to be untouchable, the fight for second, third and fourth position are only divided by about 8,000 units between the second position Accord, third position Altima, and fourth position Ford Fusion. Describing just how close the battle between the top four is, consider that the fifth position Chevy Malibu has sold only 49,179 vehicles from the beginning of the year, setting a gap of about 30,000 vehicles between it and the fourth place Fusion.

Probably adding to the Camry’s slight fall from the top, it is the veteran model in the line up, as the Altima, Accord and Fusion were restyled for this model season.
