Toyota will get rid of Petrol Vehicles by 2050

Toyota is waiting for a future without petrol-powered cars in its range.

We remind you that Toyota was one of the first producers to put money into hybrid technology. Nearly 20 years ago it has presented the Prius. Nowadays the automaker has its first hydrogen fuel cell car, the Mirai. The company hits at selling no petrol cars by 2050. It just wants to market Hydrogen fuel cell cars and hybrids. In such a way, in 35 years, the automaker will decrease average emissions from the whole range by 90% in comparison with 2010 levels.

The Japanese manufacturer wants to sell more than 30,000 fuel cell cars in five years. That makes 10 times its projected number for 2017. Hybrid car sold will hit the 1.5-million vehicles annually. Toyota wants to sell 15 million hybrids in five years. Only think, it is almost two times more than they have sold for now around the globe.

Besides, the producer assured that it does not count on EVs. It does not want them, as they take too much time to recharge.

By the way, Toyota’s statement was released at a time of diesel engines scrutiny after VW has confessed to cheat on EPA diesel emissions tests.
