Auto Expo Presents the Carlino Small Crossover Concept from Hyundai

Hyundai has shown the HND-14 Carlino small crossover. This happened at this year’s Auto Expo event that was held in India.

The vehicle measures less than 157.4 inches (or 4 metres). The car looks blocky and probably has flush door handles and side cameras that have replaced conventional mirrors. The front and rear parts of the vehicle have scuff plates for more protection. Besides, there is the bulging wheel arches with a set of chunky rims.

The model also features the slender LED headlamps and a restyled front radiator enclosure. Meanwhile there is a couple of square taillights at the back. The last ones remind of a Jeep Renegade. The tailgate is situated on the small side, because almost the whole rear end is covered by the large bumper.

Do not forget that the concept benefits from opaque windows. We assume that the automaker has not finished the Carlino’s interior and, in such a way, it was hidden from the Auto Expo visitors.

A production variant might arrive in 2017. Then it will be placed in Hyundai India’s range. The Creta will be placed above it. The vehicle will probably have the familiar chassis taken from the i20. It will likely be equipped with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. They will be joined to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic that sends power only to the front axle.
